Chess info
Why chess? One might wonder. Why learn chess, why teach it? In fact there are so many good reasons that I’m not even going to bother starting a blog about it. Instead I’m going to tell you that multiple research has been done on the subject over the decades and in many countries. Bottom line: Chess makes you smarter. You can read all about it in The Benefits of Chess in Education.
If you’re looking for chess books, your dreams will come true in our Store.
Looking for chess sets? Maybe you’ve already checked out the Store. If not, please feel free to do so, and hopefully you’ll find something you like. If not, here are some other options:
Another option for high quality chess sets is definitely Jaques London. These gentlemen have been in the business since the 18th century! They know what they’re doing.
At Wholesale Chess you can get nicely priced chess sets, chess pieces, chess boards, and more, especially if you buy in bulk (first discount threshold is usually when buying the fourth item). In addition they’ve got voucher codes (or discount coupons if you will, they call them promo codes), which means you can make a very good deal. Finally, they get our recommendations for good customer service, they’ll reply to your e-mails and make you feel that you matter (that’s at least our experience).
Looking for online chess? There are numerous places where you can do this, some better than others. The ones I find best are playchess.com, where I play regularly, and ICC. On playchess you get a longer free trial period, and actually you can play as long as you want for free as a guest. On both sites strong grandmasters play regularly, but don’t worry, there are also a lot of players that are your level. You’ll usually have thousands of people at any given time, eager to play, so you don’t have to wait long for an opponent. A word of warning though: Playing chess on the internet is a lot of fun, and can therefore be quite addictive! Don’t be surprised to discover that hours have gone by, and you thought it was just minutes!
